Blog and Personal Status

Okay, now that I'm functional enough to sit at the computer for more than five minutes a stretch, I'll tell you where I've been for the past two weeks.

tl;dr version: I'm ill but should be 90% by the end of this week, should be 100% within two weeks hopefully, because I'm being good and taking my medicine.

Long version: I'm sick. Nothing life-threatening, but I'm not lying when I say I'm sicker than I've ever been in my entire life. It started with my summer allergies, which I always get every year, and the drainage due to the changing weather. I usually get sick when this happens, but in every year before now, it's been a sore throat for a couple days at best, or strep throat for about five days at worst.

I started getting worried when, on the 21st, as I worked in Walmart, I felt weird cold chills in very specific parts of my body. Got home, took my temperature, had a 101-degree fever, called off the next day.

The fever broke the next day, but the symptoms moved around. Rather my throat sore, it my nose... then back to the throat... then my right ear filled up with fluid, and I couldn't breathe nor keep my balance. And then the fever came back.

Over the last 10 days, I've had four individual days where I drew a fever, including last night. But I'm sure I'm past the worst of it, and I went to Urgent Care a couple days ago, and officially was diagnosed with bronchitis, an eye infection, and a general sinus infection. This scored me prescriptions for antibiotics, eye drops, and... some... other pill that I'm not sure exactly what it does. My first dose was yesterday, and I'm feeling a little better... I still can't stand or be active for very long without getting exhausted, but now when I'm coughing up my kidneys, it doesn't feel like a Jackie Chan chop to the throat. So... that's something.

I don't think I'm healthy enough to work in retail, especially given that half my job is assisting customers directly in or around Sporting Goods, but Urgent Care REFUSES TO SIGN ANY MEDICAL LEAVE PAPERWORK. I want to call them assholes, but they made me better, so... a wash, I guess? Anyway, I'd have to get a second opinion at a family doctor, of which I have none and can't afford. I wasn't given options at work (even though now, after the fact, I realize I had some), so I have to get back to Walmart and tough it out. First day back was today, and I did all right, but that first hour was a nightmare. My head is killing me, and I was tired all day... but I made it, so I'm sure I'll be fine.

So. You all can look forward-slash-dread my returning online presence in the next few days, probably. I've got a lot of crap to catch up on, including my guide for The Sims 3: Supernatural. Luckily (or not), that's my only outstanding IGN assignment since I lost the WWE series and another game I had been promised, so my brain should be able to catch up soon. Once I get my voice back, Yoshi and I will be doing our videos again, and everything should be awesome once more.

Meanwhile, I'm temporarily suspending the Football Manager Fridays series, but for a good reason! Football Manager 2013 is coming out in a few weeks, which I've already pre-ordered. I knew I was going to buy it months ago, so I wondered how exactly I was going to handle the situation. After all, I can't move the save files over, so I was going to have to restart anyway. I wondered whether I would just restart in the middle of a season or what, and I didn't want to confuse anyone (since that series apparently is drawing a bunch of new eyes to the blog).

So, this sort of works out. The time between the last post and the first post of the new game will be a month or two apart, giving everyone time to forget our terrible 7th place finish. It'll also give me time to decide whether I want to try the same thing -- take on the New England Revolution and get them to halfway-decent status -- or use a different team, even a different league! If you have any opinions on the matter, let me know in the comments.

I'm basically going to make it a text-based Let's Play experience, giving instructional and tutorial help while trying to be somewhat entertaining, as I usually try to do. Who knows, maybe Steam will actually use my blog posts on their News pages for the game (yeah, right). But either way, we'll have more association futbol shortly, once FM13 comes out, whenever the hell that'll be (Steam just lists it as "Fall 2012").

Things will be back to normal soon, guys. Thanks for reading!
